About the Gang Research Study

Understanding Youth Involvement and Community Impact

A Better Tomorrow Services has launched this in-depth research initiative to explore the social, economic, and emotional factors that contribute to youth participation in gang-related activities. Through data analysis, community feedback, and lived experience, this study aims to elevate real stories, challenge perceptions, and inform programs that make a measurable difference.

The research focuses on:

  • Identifying common risk factors among at-risk youth

  • Exploring the systemic barriers they face

  • Highlighting positive intervention strategies used by schools, families, and community organizations

This study serves as a foundation for our youth-centered outreach programs and policy recommendations aimed at reducing gang involvement and strengthening community ties.

“If I had something like this back then, maybe I wouldn’t have felt like the streets were the only option.”

What the Research Reveals

Our findings reveal the most pressing challenges faced by at-risk youth — and what contributes to their vulnerability to gang involvement.

  • 63% of surveyed youth reported feeling unsafe at school

  • 4 in 10 experienced housing instability

  • 78% had no access to after-school programs in their area

  • 56% cited lack of mentorship or positive role models
